| Forward Looking Social Practices: Don Palmer, Causeway Work Centre Not-for-profits, or individuals looking to start a social enterprise often face a number of challenges from risk aversion to a lack of business expertise. A not-for-profit, or social entrepreneur may feel that they have a idea with good commercial potential, but have no idea how to test its feasibility, or how to finance a business start-up. Causeway Work Centre has operated social businesses for over 10 years and have experienced similar challenges. Don Palmer, the Executive Director of Causeway Work Centre will talk about The Collaborative for Innovative Social Enterprise Development (CISED)a group of non-profit organizations, academic institutions and private sector partners committed to helping Ottawa-based non-profits and social entrepreneurs overcome the barriers to starting a social enterprise. |
